Regarding the implementation of vaccination against COVID-19, the Government has issued Resolution 21/NQ-CP dated February 26, which encouraged eligible units to organize voluntary vaccination for organizations and individuals who request.

The Ministry of Health is responsible for licensing, testing and managing the quality of vaccines according to regulations; directing and guiding the vaccination according to the required schedule, and ensuring safety and effectiveness.

Previously, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City submitted a report to the Prime Minister stating that, Ho Chi Minh City currently has over 7.2 million people aged 18 and over, and over 1.6 million workers and labourers at enterprises and corporations in industrial parks.

However, up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has only received 140,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and deployed the first dose of vaccination to more than 64,000 people, and more than 10,000 people have been injected with two doses.

To achieve the goal of herd immunity with over 70% of the population in Ho Chi Minh City being vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible, purchasing vaccines is an urgent matter, according to the City People’s Committee.

As a result, it proposed to the Prime Minister to allow businesses in the city to actively negotiate to source vaccines from prestigious manufacturers and distributors in the world, and be allowed to import or hire importing enterprises./.
