Ho Chi Minh City speeds up cooperation programs with Mongolia

On November 14, Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, welcomed the Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam, Jigjee Sereejav, as he paid a farewell visit to mark the end of his term in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen expressed his pleasure at the continuous development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia over the past 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations (1954–2024). He noted that September 30, 2024, marked a major milestone with the upgrade of Vietnam-Mongolia relations to a Comprehensive Partnership.
Secretary Nguyen Van Nen highlighted that a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City made a successful official visit to Mongolia in July 2024, which left a lasting impression on the delegates. He emphasized that through various meetings, the delegation experienced a strong sense of solidarity between the two nations and discussed practical cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, particularly regarding air transportation links and collaboration in tourism, trade, and agriculture.
Expressing his heartfelt sentiments toward Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen commended the Ambassador’s contributions to fostering cooperation and actualizing high-level agreements between the two nations. He noted that Ho Chi Minh City has benefited from the Embassy of Mongolia’s support in advancing local-level cooperation.
Secretary Nguyen Van Nen affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to promote and actively implement cooperation programs between the two sides in tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from Ho Chi Minh City’s leadership and remarked that the elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership heralds a new chapter in Vietnam-Mongolia relations. Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav expressed his desire for increased economic and trade cooperation, especially with Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s economic hub, as a means to strengthen the longstanding friendly relations between Mongolia and Vietnam./.
