On December 10, during the question-and-answer session with the leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports, many delegates expressed their interest in the management, preservation and promotion of tourism values of the system of relics in the city.
The delegates said that the city has many urban architectural heritages, revolutionary heritages, and architectural and fine art relics in addition to many types of museums, which have the potential to develop tourism and attract foreign visitors. From there, the delegates wondered how the management, preservation and promotion of the value of relics are carried out and what policies the city has to encourage people and students to visit relics and museums more, as well as how to combine with tourism to bring relics to serve tourists.
Responding to this issue, Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that currently, the Department identifies cultural heritage as the property of the City and the people of the City. The task of the industry, besides promoting and preserving the value of heritage, is also to promote education through heritage.
Recently, the Department has reviewed heritage in the City. Up to this point, the City has recognized 193 cultural heritages as relics. At the same time, recently, the Department has strengthened the review and put 130 addresses and works into the list proposed for recognition.
The Department also coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Heritage Association to conduct a field survey of the city's heritage sites and proposed the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council increase investment in upgrading and repairing them.
Comrade Tran The Thuan affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and the City Department of Tourism have signed a cooperation program to form a tourism map, including cultural heritage tourism and architectural heritage.
In particular, the two departments have coordinated to form a tourism program on Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space with the existing advantages of Nha Rong Wharf, Ho Chi Minh Museum, the relic of house at 5 Chau Van Liem and thousands of Ho Chi Minh Cultural Spaces that localities have worked hard to build./.
