Vietnam's 27-year ASEAN membership marked in Ho Chi Minh City

A ceremony has been held to mark Vietnam's 27-year ASEAN membership (July 28, 1995 - July 28, 2022) and the 55th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (August 8, 1967 - August 8, 2022) at Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Friendship Building at No. 31 Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
The event was co-organized by the Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association and the HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan, President of the HCMC Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association, introduced a general overview of the formation and development process of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) from five founding member countries to become an organization with 10 member countries. ASEAN made many efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges in the past, is gradually solving current challenges and orienting sustainable development in the future.
With experience and achievements over the past 55 years of solidarity and cooperation, the Chairman of the HCMC Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association believed that ASEAN will continue to be an important and indispensable factor in promoting peace, stability and development of Southeast Asia in particular and Asia - Pacific in general.
