A Vietnamese high level military delegation led by General Phung Quang Thanh, Vietnam’s Minister of National Defence, is paying a visit to Australia from March 15 – 20 at the invitation of General Stephen Smith, Australia’s Minister of National Defence.
This visit to Australia of the high level Vietnamese military delegation led by Minister Phung Quang Thanh takes place in the context of the two countries celebrating 40 years of diplomatic ties.
The visit aims to appreciate the national defence cooperation between Vietnam and Australia during the last years, and will discuss detailed contents and measures to foster military cooperation in the future.
General Phung Quang Thanh highly valued the cooperation relations between Vietnam and Australia, expressed pleasure with the results of the bilateral defence ties over the past years, and added that the two countries should work together to foster bilateral and multilateral relations.
He also hopes his visit to Australia this time will help boost the two countries’ relations in various fields, especially in national defence and military cooperation, thereby enhancing friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two countries and their military forces for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
As scheduled, Minister of National Defence Phung Quang THanh will pay a visit to a naval base, having talks with Australia’s Minister of National Defence Stephen Smith and attending a press conference in Canberra./.
