Construction commemorating Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Cambodia inaugurated

A requiem and ceremony to inaugurate a monument to the martyrs who were Vietnamese volunteer soldiers’ of Front 479, stationed in Cambodia, were solemnly held in Bo De pagoda, Long Bien district, Hanoi.

The event was a chance for former Vietnamese volunteer cadres and soldiers to review the glorious history, feats of arms and great sacrifice of the Vietnamese people and army; and showed deep gratitude to the martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives for national liberation and protection as well as for realising international missions.

It also helped to reinforce companionship, and strengthen the Vietnam - Cambodia friendship relations.

During the inauguration ceremony, colonel Le Cuong, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of former volunteer soldiers of Front 479, said that this was a unique cultural and spiritual construction to worship and pay gratitude to heroic martyrs.

“It is also a destination for educating about the tradition of patriotic and international spirit of the Vietnamese nation and army, contributing to reinforcing and increasing the Vietnam - Cambodia friendship association,” he said.

The construction, which was invested with VND700 million, is built on an area of 40 square metres.

Attending the ceremony were President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association Vu Mao, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Hun Phany, representatives from ministries and agencies, former volunteer soldiers, and Hanoians./.
