Vietnamese and Singaporean leaders inaugurate business centre

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on March 22nd inaugurated the Mapletree business centre in Ho Chi Minh city during the Singaporean leader’s visit to Vietnam from March 21st-24th.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese and Singaporean leaders agreed that economic, trade and investment cooperation was always a bright point in the two countries’ cooperation.

Singapore is continuously one of the leading investors in Vietnam. As of January, it had 1,809 valid investment projects in the country with a registered capital of over USD39 billion.Over the past 10 years, the Vietnam – Singapore Framework Agreement on Connectivity has been actively carried out, bringing about good results. Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) have been operating effectively and continue to be expanded, making important contributions to the development of the Vietnamese economy.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation with ASEAN, including Singapore, is a priority of Vietnam.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong confirmed that he would continue to encourage large Singaporean investors to seek and expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam, adding that the inauguration of the Mapletree business centre was a concrete demonstration of the effective cooperation between the two countries.

The Mapletree business centre, developed by the Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd, a Singapore-owned real estate developer, covers an area of 4.4 hectares in district 7, including 3 office buildings, the Vivo City trade centre and 2 apartment buildings.

Starting to invest in Vietnam 12 years ago, Maple Tree is managing property worth over SGD1 billion in complexes, offices, retail, industrial and logistics services in Ho Chi Minh city, Hanoi, Binh Duong and Bac Ninh provinces./.
