Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh cities boost tourism cooperation

On September 7th, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang received a delegation from Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Penh led by Vice Mayor Keo Sokpisey, on a working visit.

During the reception, Vice Chairman Mang appreciated the delegation’s visit to attend the 13th International Travel Expo in Ho Chi Minh city, confirming that the city would do its utmost to foster the Vietnam - Cambodia relationship, as well as the relationship between Ho Chi Minh city and Cambodian localities, especially Phnom Penh. “The Cho Ray - Phnom Penh hospital project is a clear demonstration of the cooperative relationship,” he said.

According to Mr. Mang, the two cities have witnessed a lot of economic, commercial, educational and tourism exchanges. He expressed his hope that the two sides would make favourable conditions for businesses to link tourism cooperation.

Appreciating the strong development of Ho Chi Minh city over the recent years, Ms Keo Sokpisey thanked the Vietnamese city for assisting Cambodia in building schools and traffic roads.

Mentioning the Ho Chi Minh city International Travel Expo, Ms Keo Sokpisey said that this would be a chance to promote tourism between the two localities. “Each year, Phnom Penh welcomes over 100,000 tourists from Ho Chi Minh city,” she said. “We hope for a greater number of tourists coming from the city.”

She noted that apart from the tourism sector, the two cities had huge potential in education - training, infrastructure, healthcare, and information and technology cooperation./.
