Vietnamese locality, USAID increase cooperation

The Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee on November 5th received Mr. Christopher Abrams, the Environment and Social Development Office Director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Vietnam, during his delegation’s ongoing working visit.

Being an agency providing non-refundable aid for diverse programs and projects in Vietnam, USAID has carried out a program in support of disabled people with a total capital of over USD2 million through RENEW project in Quang Tri province, besides the newest project on providing increased opportunities and heightening disabled people’s position, using a capital of over USD320,000.

During the reception, Mr. Christopher Abrams expressed his pleasure with the implemented projects in Quang Tri, adding that he hoped more and more activities in different fields will be performed by USAID in the province.

Appreciating projects for disabled people by USAID, Nguyen Duc Chinh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said he believed that the projects will be carried out successfully with USAID funding and the province’s experience. “It commits to direct relevant agencies to work strictly with each other and with USAID representatives for the success of the project,” he added.

He went on to say that Quang Tri hoped to receive USAID support and experience in other areas, like alternative energy and sustainable afforestation./.
