Turkish businesses want to expand investment in Vietnam

Turkish businesses hope for more favourable conditions to expand investment in Vietnam.

From November 26th-28th, Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Tran Quang Tuyen paid a working visit to Istanbul to reinforce and promote relationships with Turkish businesses, and increase investment attraction among these businesses.

Meeting with over 10 businesses that intend to invest in Vietnam in energy, construction, trade, exhibition, telecommunications, real estate, interior and health equipment, on November 26th, the Vietnamese Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Turkey - Vietnam Business Council and its member businesses for promoting bilateral economics and trade relationship, especially its contributions to the success of the Vietnam - Turkey Business and Investment Forum during the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s visit to Turkey in October.

According to Mr. Tuyen, the two-way trade turnover rapidly increased recent years, multiplying 13 times and reaching nearly USD3 billion in 2017.

Adding that the Vietnamese Government will always stand side by side with foreign investors by creating most favourable business environment, the Vietnamese Ambassador said he hoped that Turkey will come to Vietnam for experience and have more profound understanding about the domestic businesses environment, thus pouring investment in different areas, especially in infrastructure, sustainable development, green energy, public health, tourism and high technology.

During the meeting, Turkish businesses said that Vietnam is a large market with great potential, and it is also a central destination for them to go further to other East Asian markets.

Working with Travelshop business working in the tourism sector and Repkaucuk business working in the  rubber industry and Turkish Airlines on November 27th-28th, Ambassador Tuyen confirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey will be willing to work with travel agencies in promote the two countries’ attractive destinations.

Bilal Eksi, Turkish Airlines General Director, said that the group plans to double the number of flight from Istanbul to Ho Chi Minh city and Hanoi, from 7 to 14 per week by next September and to 28 flights per week in the near future.

He also expressed his hope to cooperate with Vietnam Airlines for flights to Europe./.
