So said Chairman of the Da Nang city Huynh Duc Tho during his reception for Willian M. Peduto, Mayor of Pittsburgh city in Pennsylvania, US, on March 19
th.
According to Mr. Tho, Da Nang city has welcomed many senior officials from the US Congress and Government, including US President Donald Trump’s visit to Da Nang in 2017 for attending the APEC Summit. “It has set up cooperative relationship with Pittsburgh, Oakland and Houston cities,” he said, adding that there are currently 56 US projects with capitaliz of USD589 million in the city.
“Da Nang also witnesses diverse effective cultural, security and educational activities with US localities, forces and organizations,” he went on to say.
For the relationship with Pittsburgh city, since the establishment of friendly and cooperative relationship in 2009, the two cities have focused the cooperation in tertiary education and people-to-people relations. Some businesses from Pittsburgh city have come to Da Nang to study the investment environment while Da Nang city’s leaders have come to the US city to gain experience in climate change adaptation.
Appreciating the development of Pittsburgh city and the bilateral effective cooperation in education, non-governmental assistance and delegation exchanges, Mr, Tho suggested that Pittsburgh authorities continue to share experience in the administration of a modern city and the promotion of healthcare, educational and advanced training cooperation.
Expressing his deep impression of Da Nang city, Mayor William M. Peduto pledged to continue to promote the relationship between the two cities in all areas, especially in high technology, information technology, logistics, tourism, trade and education.
He appreciated the investment environment and policies of Da Nang city, expressing confidence that with its advantages, Da Nang will boost cooperation in investment and people-to-people diplomacy with the US side.
He also said he hoped that direct flights between Vietnam and the US would open soon to boost tourism and trade cooperation./.
