He made the statement during Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to Russia from May 20th-23rd.

Emphasizing that the visit is very important as it continues to confirm that Vietnam considers Russia its leading important and trusted partner, and the visit taking place in the context that both nations will organise the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam in 2019 and 2020 to mark the 25th anniversary of the treaty on basic principles for bilateral relations (1994-2019), and 70th anniversary of the diplomatic ties (1950-2020), Ambassador Manh said the visit will help promote cooperation, especially in economic, trade, investment and people-to-people ties.

The visit is carried out after Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Russia in September 2018 and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Vietnam in November 2018, which shows political trust between the two countries.

According to the Ambassador, the two sides will focus on addressing obstacles in seeking business opportunities, and promoting all agreements, projects and commitments.

Talking about the organization of the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam for the first time in the two countries relationship, Ambassador Manh said that the event would encompass hundreds of activities, including exchanges of high ranking delegations, workshops, talks, people-to-people exchanges, sports and military exchanges.

“The two countries’ leaders hope that the event will promote and deepen the bilateral friendly and comprehensive cooperative relationship,” said Ambassador Manh.

He added that the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia had devised a plan with more than 200 activities, including a seminar on Vietnamese teaching and studies, and a music competition among the Vietnamese community in Russia.

The ongoing project “Vietnam in the heart of Russian friends” aims to collect and exhibit images, objects and remembrance from Russian friends who used to live and work in Vietnam.

The Embassy is also working to prepare for a compilation of a handbook on Russia’s investment, seminars with Russian ministries and agencies, and a Vietnamese cuisine festival, and others./.
