Ivory Coast hopes to cooperate with Can Tho in agriculture

He made the statement while being received by Nguyen Thanh Dung, Deputy Chairman of the Can Tho city People’s Committee, and the city departments’ leaders, on May 28^th.

During the reception, Mr. Dung gave a general introduction about the agricultural sector of the city, a Mekong River Delta locality strong in exporting agricultural products. “Can Tho is calling investment in hi-tech agricultural production, the development of production and processing of production with high and sustainable value,” he said, adding that it is also increasing the production of seedlings for the whole region and promoting the processing of consumption products.

Saying that Ivory Coast and Vietnam share a lot of similarities in natural and social conditions, Mr. Achi Patrick proposed that the two sides increase cooperation in breeding (chicken and fish) and seedling (rice) research, and called on Can Tho city’s businesses to invest in Ivory Coast and cooperate with the country in production and processing of agricultural products. “Good quality products can not only be consumed in Ivory Coast, but also exported to surrounding African countries,” he added.

Mr. Dung agreed that the city also hoped to promote cooperation in agricultural and fisheries production with Ivory Coast localities as it is experienced in research of agricultural production.

“As it is the center of Vietnam’s Mekong River Delta, Can Tho is strong at agricultural production with key products like rice, catfish and fruits,” said Mr. Dung. “They are all products that Ivory Coast needs; therefore, the cooperation between Can Tho city and Ivory Coast is necessary.”
