Over the past years, the economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the US have continuously developed, positively contributing to the comprehensive cooperative partnership and the prosperity of the business communities of the two countries.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Governor Jim Justice thanked the Ministry of Industry and Trade for coordinating with the State of West Virginia to organize a meaningful workshop with the connection of leading energy enterprises in the private and public sectors of both locations. “West Virginia, with its strengths in natural gas, coal and the world's leading energy-efficient mining and processing technologies, is ready to connect with Vietnamese businesses,” he said.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An said that Vietnam is facing large growth in energy demand in the next decade, leading to challenges related to energy security, access to energy, quality, investment and the environment. Therefore, policies and mechanisms for sustainable energy development should be given top priority, especially in the direction of developing clean and renewable energy, energy saving, and smart grid. On that basis, Vietnam must make an energy transition towards green and cleaner use through diversifying energy types and developing renewable energy, in addition to using fossil energy sources.
"In order to achieve the set development goals, Vietnam has stepped up cooperation with other countries, organizations and international corporations, including the US," he added.
Businesses at the workshop shared information, cooperation needs, special bidding mechanisms in the fields of processing, exploitation and technology development in the energy industry and specific fields such as gasification liquid, electricity, oil and gas, coal, renewable energy, and efficient use of energy. This will be an important milestone in energy cooperation between the two sides, opening a new, more comprehensive and effective cooperation stage./.
