On May 8, in Can Tho City, an online signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of agriculture and tourism took place between Can Tho City People's Committee and Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
Can Tho City and Nasushiobara City started laying the foundation for cooperation in January 2020. Up to now, the relationship between the two localities has been continuously strengthened with many friendly activities. Over this time, senior leaders of the two localities have visited and worked directly together, thereby determining that Nasushiobara City and Can Tho City have great potential for cooperation, especially in agriculture and tourism.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, affirmed that the signing of cooperation between Can Tho and Nasushiobara is expected to bring practical results for the people and businesses of the two cities, contributing to the building of good relations and friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
He suggested that in the coming time, the two cities should continue to promote the exchange of delegations; and create conditions for businesses of the two sides to promote effective cooperation in the fields of agriculture and tourism, creating a premise for moving forward trade and investment cooperation.
He added that, in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, Can Tho will organize a program of cultural and trade exchange between Vietnam and Japan and a meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in June 2023. He expressed his hope that Mr. Watanabe Michitaro and the delegation of Nasushiobara city businesses and entrepreneurs would attend the above important events, opening the way for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two cities, while contributing to further tightening the cooperation relationship between Can Tho and Nasushiobara.
On behalf of the leaders of Can Tho City, he also sent his best wishes to Mr. Watanabe Michitaro on being re-elected for the second term in the mayoral election on April 16, and believed that with his experience and enthusiasm, Nasushiobara City will become more and more prosperous.
Mr. Watanabe Michitaro, Mayor of Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Province, thanked the leaders of Can Tho City for the enthusiastic support in promoting cooperation between the two cities. On the basis of the cooperation memorandum signed this time, he said he hoped that specific cooperation works between the two cities would go smoothly in the near future.
In addition to the fields mentioned in the signed agreement, he added he wished in the future the two sides would continue to research to jointly develop other potential and strong industries of the two localities./.
