On October 30, Can Tho University held the inauguration ceremony of the research laboratory complex and high-tech building within the framework of the Can Tho University Upgrading Project. These are the two most modern laboratory works in the Mekong Delta.

Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, said that the project invested by the Vietnamese Party, State and Government is a key project, a prominent highlight of the Southwest region in general and Can Tho city in particular. It consists of 5 main components, including: human resource development, research projects, construction of facilities, equipment investment, and consulting services.

The project "research laboratory complex" is designed with 7 floors, a total floor area of 16,654 square meters, a capacity of 750 people. The high-tech building consists of 5 floors, with a total floor area of 25,713 square meters, accommodating 1,000 people. Modern architecture with full functions and facilities is used for training, scientific research and study, and providing high-quality human resources for the development of the country.

Japanese Deputy Ambassador Watanabe Shige expressed his belief that the facilities will contribute to fulfilling the Vietnamese Government’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity by at least 30% by 2050, and addressing the country’s major issues such as food security and climate change.

He said that as 2023 would be the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, he hoped that Can Tho University, with its location in the heart of the Mekong Delta, a school with a long history of connection with Japan, will have many events leading the chain of commemorative events in the region./.
