Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the City Department of Tourism, said that at present, the total number of tour guides issued with cards in Ho Chi Minh City is 7,340 people, including 4,360 international tour guides and 2,980 domestic tour guides. In which, the number of tour guides using Japanese is still modest at about 0.39%. The city's tourism industry identifies human resource development as a key task, especially focusing on training and fostering tour guides with foreign language skills that are lacking, such as Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Spanish and German languages.

The signing program aims to strengthen the good and lasting friendship and solidarity between the two countries, and practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21), and foster Japanese foreign language for cadres and civil servants in tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, the staff, employees working in restaurants - hotels and especially tour guides in the city, thereby serving the Japanese market well and contributing to achieving the goal and target of welcoming international visitors in 2023.

It also contributes to improving the quality of human resources to better serve the Japanese tourist market, which is one of the key traditional markets of Vietnam tourism, as well as Ho Chi Minh City tourism. It helps tour guides to be more confident in communication, improving their handling skills with Japanese-speaking tourists to visit and experience various types of tourism in Vietnam.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism coordinated with the Korean Consulate General and the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City to organize two free Korean language training courses for state management officials and employees in tourism in the city; the staff, employees working in restaurants - hotels and especially the team of tour guides in the city. The City Department of Tourism is recruiting students for a free, beginner level Spanish language training class, scheduled to start from February 2023./.
