He made the statement on May 27 when he was received by Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh for his new working term in Vietnam.
Ambassador Juan Carlos Fernandes Juárez said that this year Vietnam and Venezuela celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Over the past 8 months, receiving the invitation of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Venezuela has welcomed delegations of high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, including the visit by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac in November 2023; and the visit by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang in April 2024.
According to the Venezuelan Ambassador, 2024 is an important year, a milestone in the relationship between the two countries, an opportunity to look back at Vietnam - Venezuela relations from the past to the present, and to create a foundation for the future. This good relationship brings new developments, positively contributing to the development of each country.
The ambassador also proposed placing a bust of national liberator Simon Bolivar in Hanoi. Referring to activities to promote cultural exchange, the Venezuelan Ambassador expressed his wish to restore the space for Venezuelan ceramic paintings at a suitable location in Hanoi.
In addition, according to the Venezuelan Ambassador, in 2024, the two countries can coordinate to organize a number of events such as "Vietnam Day in Venezuela", "Venezuelan Cultural Week in Vietnam", "Rice Festival in Venezuela" to help the people of the two countries increase mutual understanding.
Agreeing with Ambassador Juan Carlos Fernandes Juárez, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always value the good traditional diplomatic relations with Venezuela. In the context of many complicated developments in the world, Vietnam remains faithful and grateful to Venezuela.
He stated that Hanoi always supports the activities of the Venezuelan Embassy in the area, especially events marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Regarding the twinning between Hanoi and Caracas, he said Hanoi will coordinate with authorities to promote this process.
In terms of the proposal to place a statue of national liberator Simon Bolivar in Hanoi, the Chairman of the City People's Committee appreciated the significance of the project and acknowledged the Embassy's proposal. “The Hanoi City People's Committee will assign relevant departments, branches and localities to research and work directly with the Embassy to discuss this,” he said.
He also asserted the necessity of the project on restoring the space for Venezuelan ceramic paintings at a suitable location in Hanoi./.
