Hanoi - Vientiane strengthen exchange of experience in management of industry and commerce

From July 3 to 7, the Department of Industry and Trade of Vientiane (Laos) sent a delegation to work and learn from the experience of Hanoi in the field of industry and trade.

This was one of the activities aimed at continuing to implement the signed contents of the Memorandum of Understanding between Hanoi and Vientiane; respond to the Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2023; and carry out the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and the Vientiane Department of Industry and Trade for the period of 2022-2025 which was signed in Vientiane on November 4, 2022.

Within the framework of the program, diverse activities will take place, including a conference to exchange experiences on state management in the field of industry and trade between the two capitals; conducting actual survey at a number of commercial centers, supermarkets, markets and craft villages in Hanoi; attending the opening ceremony at the exhibition, introduction and sale of OCOP products of the capital handicraft industry; and conducting actual survey in some industrial clusters in Thanh Hoa province, and some production facilities and enterprises in Le Mon industrial zone (Thanh Hoa city).

In particular, the "Experience exchange conference on state management in the field of industry and trade between the two capitals" is an important content in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and the Vientiane Department of Industry and Trade in the period of 2022-2025.

In 2022, investment capital from Vietnam to Laos reached USD180 million, up 52.5% compared to 2021. Up to now, Vietnam has invested in 214 projects in Laos with a total capital of USD5.34 billion, ranking 3rd among countries and territories investing in Laos. Besides, Laos always maintains the first position among 79 countries and territories with investment from Vietnamese enterprises. Vietnam's projects in Laos are promoting efficiency in many fields such as hydropower, infrastructure, aviation, finance, banking, telecommunications and agriculture., contributing positively to Lao socio-economic development.

So far, the total registered FDI capital of Laos in Hanoi city has been USD10.5 million. Lao enterprises invest in Hanoi in a number of fields such as trade, real estate, finance, banking and insurance; and repair of cars and motorbikes./.
