US Consul General Susan Burns, speaking at the workshop, affirmed that the US is at the forefront of supporting Vietnam's transition to a clean, safe and market-oriented energy industry. The United States is proud to work with Vietnam and specifically Ho Chi Minh City to promote green development through renewable energy sources, in order to provide a cleaner environment for the people, and at the same time, help strengthen the role of Ho Chi Minh City as the locomotive in developing Vietnam's green economy.
At the workshop, the presentations and discussions highlighted the applications of hydrogen in various industries, hydrogen equipment and technology, as well as policies to encourage hydrogen development. As hydrogen is one of the cleanest alternative fuel sources when it comes to wind and solar energy, it is considered a leading technology in efforts to reduce carbon emissions on a global scale.
In line with the global trend of focusing on hydrogen's greenhouse gas emission reduction potential, Vietnam is actively looking for new methods to reduce carbon emissions. The workshop provided an important background for Vietnam to learn about hydrogen as a way to achieve its COP26 commitments to net zero emissions by 2050.
The Vietnam Urban Energy Security Project works closely with Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City and private sector partners to finalize legislation related to clean energy, mobilize investment, promote the application and implementation of innovative energy solutions./.
