On July 3, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Van Mai received Mr. Pang Te Cheng, the new Singapore Consul General, on his courtesy visit at the beginning of his term.

At the meeting, Mr. Pang Te Cheng thanked Chairman Phan Van Mai for his time and congratulated Ho Chi Minh City on its high growth rate in the first six months of 2024.

Stating that the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore is stronger than ever, he noted Singapore plans to offer several training courses for Ho Chi Minh City officials, expected to start in August or September, covering areas such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, public services and artificial intelligence, which he said align with the city’s development direction towards sustainable development, green growth, and technological and digital economy advancement. He said he believed there is still plenty of room for future cooperation, and Singapore is also interested in collaborating on food production and innovation.

Mr. Phan Van Mai fully agreed with the key focus areas outlined by Mr. Pang Te Cheng and committed to jointly implementing these priorities, from training, activities of the Innovation Center, strategic food programs, to connecting business management agencies. He asserted that these priorities align well with the city's development direction, with the training program for Ho Chi Minh City’s officials being a highlight of cooperation between the two sides in recent times.

He went on to say that he hoped during Mr. Pang Te Cheng's tenure, both sides will work closely to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation. They will continue to maintain and develop regular exchange mechanisms with representatives of the Singapore business community to promptly resolve difficulties, ensuring that major Singaporean investors choose Ho Chi Minh City as their top investment and business destination.

According to Mr. Mai, in addition to prioritizing businesses as the center, and creating regular dialogues to resolve and promote projects, Ho Chi Minh City wants to further strengthen cooperation with Singaporean government agencies and enforcement agencies in areas such as digital transformation, green transition, and the application of artificial intelligence across various fields.

Mr. Phan Van Mai congratulated Mr. Pang Te Cheng on his new position, committed to continued collaboration, and expressed trust in Mr. Pang Te Cheng’s successful working term in Vietnam./.
