India increases cooperation with Vietnamese localities in 2022

In 2022, the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will coordinate with the city and southern Vietnamese localities to organize diverse diplomatic, cultural and people-to-people events to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam – India diplomatic relationship.

Accordingly, the Indian Consulate General will coordinate with Vietnamese authorities to organize about 100 trade promotion meetings; 25 investment promotion meetings; organize exchange between about 100 medical students, 100 doctors, and 100 information technology students; promote bringing Indian tourists to Nha Trang, Vung Tau and Phu Quoc; and organize film week and many other cultural events such as cultural composing camps and people-to-people exchanges.

The series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - India relations in the Vietnamese southern localities will start from January 6, with a diplomatic reception program coordinated by the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the city Department of Foreign Affairs; and an exhibition on Vietnam - India images at the City Museum on January 7.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City and southern localities will hold a workshop on 50 years of Vietnam - India relations; a seminar on providing short-term scholarships for doctors and nurses in the city; a program on Yoga introduction program in the city; and publication of books on India and Vietnam-India relations.

Indian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Madam Mohan Sethi said that in the coming time he will make efforts to connect and establish friendly relations between 29 Vietnamese southern provinces and cities and Indian localities, promoting trade relations between Vietnamese southern provinces and India, and bringing goods into each other's markets towards the goal of raising total bilateral trade turnover to USD14 billion.

Indian partners will also carry out activities to promote cooperation with the city in the field of investment promotion; training, exchanging doctors, organizing scientific seminars specialized in medicine; cooperating in health with Ninh Thuan Province; training specialized students for Tay Ninh Province; and giving English training for 30 officials of Kien Giang Province./.
