Japan provides emergency relief to Vietnam for Typhoon No. 3 recovery

On September 11, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Ito Naoki, who delivered a message of condolence from Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh regarding the impact of Typhoon No. 3 (internationally known as Yagi).

In the message, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his deepest condolences to the families affected by the typhoon, emphasizing that the Japanese government stands ready to support Vietnam in overcoming difficulties and recovering from the aftermath of the storm to restore normalcy as soon as possible.

Ambassador Ito stated that, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japanese government is actively considering providing necessary supplies to aid Vietnam's recovery efforts based on Vietnam's needs. He also mentioned that no information has been received regarding Japanese citizens affected by the storm and expressed his hope that the Vietnamese government and local authorities would continue supporting Japanese businesses in Vietnam to resume production activities promptly.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh expressed his gratitude for the sincere condolences and willingness to assist from the Japanese government and people, reflecting the close and supportive relationship between Vietnam and Japan. He emphasized that under the leadership of the Party, State and Government, ministries, agencies and local authorities are actively mobilizing forces and resources to rescue those affected, provide relief to isolated areas, and ensure the provision of electricity and water for the people and businesses, working hard to stabilize the situation and restore normal activities.

On the same day, Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the Japanese government had decided to provide emergency relief supplies (including water purifiers and plastic sheeting) through JICA to help Vietnam recover from the damage caused by the typhoon.

According to Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision to provide emergency aid was based on humanitarian considerations and the close relationship between the two countries, as Japan seeks to support the people affected by the disaster./.
