The articles came as General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife and a high-ranking Lao Party and State delegation will pay an official visit to Vietnam from June 28-29.
The article stated that Laos and Vietnam, neighboring countries, have a long-standing relationship, with the people of the two countries having lived and united through the struggles for national liberation and national construction and development.
The great friendship, special solidarity, and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam were developed from the traditional relationship founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Cayson Phomvihan and President Xuphanuvong, which has been constantly fostered by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, becoming a special, exemplary, pure and rare relationship.
In 2021, the 59th anniversary of the diplomatic relations and the 44th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, is a period of time to test the solidity of the relationship between the two countries. Although the world situation is changing rapidly, the Party, State and people of the two countries still focus on building and increasingly strengthening cooperative relations, constantly improving the quality of cooperation, bringing practical benefits for the people of the two countries.
The Vietnamese Party, Government and people always give valuable, timely and effective support to Laos, both annual support as well as support whenever Laos faces difficulties due to natural disasters and floods. Especially in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam is the first country to support and help Laos, demonstrating the special nature of the Laos-Vietnam cooperation relationship, becoming an important factor for the development of Laos. The two countries' senior leaders have always strongly directed the functional agencies of the two sides to strengthen linkages between the two economies, especially in infrastructure development, transportation, energy exploitation and development.
Currently, Vietnam is one of the leading countries in terms of investment in Laos and a major trading partner of Laos; while defense - security cooperation continued to achieve many important results, contributing to ensuring political stability. Vietnam and Laos have always coordinated and supported each other on issues at the ASEAN forum. All of which has contributed to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two States and the peoples, actively contributing to promoting peace, friendship, cooperation and integration for peace and development of countries in the region and the world.
In its conclusion, the article wished the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation would be immortal as a tradition between the two Parties, the two States and the peoples of Laos and Vietnam./.
