The activity is a result after the Vietnamese Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue sent a letter to the Presidents of the National Assembly of the European Union (EU) member states who attended the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in Austria in September 2021, on supporting and sharing vaccines with Vietnam.
With this gesture of the Latvian National Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent a letter of thanks to Latvian President of the National Assembly Inara Murniece and the Latvian National Assembly parliamentarians.
In the letter, the Vietnamese President of the National Assembly said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies of Vietnam are implementing the necessary procedures to purchase and receive the above vaccines as soon as possible.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue was pleased to see that the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Latvia, and between the National Assemblies of the two countries, have been continuously consolidated and developed well over the years.
The Latvian National Assembly's push for the Government to transfer 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca to Vietnam during this difficult period is a noble gesture that the National Assembly, Government and people of Latvia have made for Vietnam./.
