So said Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung ahead of the visit of State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife and the Vietnamese delegation to Singapore from February 24-26, at the invitation of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob.

Confirming that the visit is of great importance, he said that  it aims to further strengthen the good and comprehensive friendship and cooperation between the two sides, especially in the context that the two countries are making efforts to adapt and recover after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The visit will have concrete results in many agreements between the two Governments and businesses of the two countries, creating a new impetus to promote relations between the two countries in the coming time.

Singapore has been the largest foreign investor in Vietnam for two consecutive years. In 2021, with a total investment capital of over USD10.7 billion, Singaporean companies accounted for a third of Vietnam's foreign direct investment (FDI). According to Ambassador Dung, the figure shows Singaporean investors’ trust in the macro policies, business environment and development prospects of Vietnam in the coming time.

“I am confident that the President's visit to Singapore, with specific working contents and agreements between the two Governments and businesses, will create a new premise and impetus for the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership to grow more and more in the coming time,” he said.

On March 15, Vietnam will reopen to tourism under new normal conditions. Along with that, economic, trade, and investment relations between Vietnam and Singapore will have new impetus for development in the coming time.

“The fact that the Vietnamese Government considers reopening tourism under normal conditions is good news, demonstrating Vietnam's determination to live with the pandemic and recover the economy,” said Ambassador Dung. “Many Singaporean businessmen, investors and people who love Vietnam have been waiting the past two years to return to Vietnam to work, seek investment opportunities, do business and visit our beautiful country.”
