Party official leads delegation to visit Japan

Receiving the invitation of the State of Japan, Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Party Central Committee Commission on Organization and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group, led the high-ranking Party delegation to pay a working visit to Japan from March 31 to April 3.

Accordingly, the visit is taking place at a time when Vietnam - Japan relations are growing fruitfully, with the latest milestone being the upgrade of the ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world in November, 2023.

During the visit, the delegation held separate meetings with Vice President of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan Aso Taro and Secretary-General of the LDP Motegi Toshimitsu, and received Governor Shuhei Kishimoto of Wakayama prefecture.

At the meetings, Ms. Mai informed about important and comprehensive results in many fields of Vietnam after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, especially the outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, Party and political system building, as well as foreign affairs since the Party's 13th Congress.

Appreciating the strong, comprehensive and substantive development between the two countries after 50 years of diplomatic relations, she affirmed Vietnam always treasures the comprehensive strategic partnership with Japan, and is willing to cooperate with the government, LDP, and various political parties and localities of Japan to deepen the bilateral relationship to match the new position.

In order to further deepen Vietnam-Japan relations in the new period, she suggested the two sides, especially the Communist Party of Vietnam and LDP, promote their ruling role in concretizing the high-level common awareness and important contents in the joint declaration on upgrading Vietnam-Japan bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.

She also thanked and expressed hope that Japan will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and work in Japan.

LDP leaders and Wakayama prefecture leaders highly appreciated Ms. Mai's visit, and agreed with her proposals on deepening the Japan – Vietnam relationship. They said that Japan always attaches importance to the bilateral ties, considers Vietnam an important comprehensive strategic partner in the region, and is ready to work with the Vietnamese Party and State to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

They added that the LDP is willing to promote its friendship with the CPV, as well as to support Japan's continued collaboration with Vietnam in industrialization, modernization, economic connectivity and cooperation in sustainable development-oriented areas and international issues.

They went on to say that they support the two countries’ localities and people-to-people organizations to increase exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and consolidate the Vietnam-Japan friendship foundation.

At the meeting with officials and typical Party members of the Party Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Ms. Mai announced major features of the domestic development situation, policies and directions of the Party and State on socio-economic development and foreign affairs, as well as the implementation of tasks set out by the 13th Party Congress, and preparations for the 14th Party Congress.

She suggested the embassy staff further contribute to strengthening and promoting the two nations’ comprehensive strategic partnership for sustainable development, for the interests of their people, and for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
