During the meeting, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam emphasized the longstanding, positive relationship between Singapore and Vietnam, which both countries are aiming to elevate to a comprehensive partnership in the near future. Strengthening collaborative initiatives with Vietnam, including with Tay Ninh province, is a priority for both nations.
The Ambassador praised Tay Ninh as a valuable partner for Singapore in recent years. Key areas of cooperation include training for local government officials and partnerships between businesses from Tay Ninh and Singapore in areas such as food security. Tay Ninh is set to be the first Vietnamese province to export poultry and eggs to Singapore.
Ambassador Ratnam expressed his hope that Tay Ninh’s leadership would continue to support and create favorable conditions for Singaporean businesses investing in the province.
On the topic of Singapore’s support for training initiatives in Vietnam and specifically in Tay Ninh, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam shared that Singapore is launching training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions on public management and digital transformation within Vietnam. These programs enable localities to send officials and trainees for training without needing to travel abroad.
Additionally, Singapore has introduced training programs aimed at 100,000 Vietnamese small and medium enterprises, providing essential skills for digital platform business and market expansion.
On behalf of Tay Ninh’s leadership, Secretary Nguyen Thanh Tam expressed gratitude and appreciation for the Ambassador’s practical suggestions for developing the Vietnam-Singapore relationship, particularly between Tay Ninh and Singapore. Secretary Tam also discussed the province’s industrial development strategy, focusing on expanding industrial zones with a goal of regional development linkage.
Currently, Tay Ninh hosts 20 Singaporean enterprises with a total investment of USD800 million, ranking Singapore as the fifth-largest foreign investor in the province. With Tay Ninh’s potential and Singapore’s investment capacity, Secretary Tam hopes to see even stronger investment efforts from Singaporean businesses in both industry and agriculture.
In the area of training, Secretary Tam expressed his desire for further support from Ambassador Ratnam and Singaporean authorities in opening training courses closely aligned with local needs, thereby helping Tay Ninh enhance the effectiveness of local governance./.
