According to Assc. Prof. Dr. Luong Minh Cu, the Rector of Cuu Long University, the institution has welcomed 3,186 new students for the 2024-2025 academic year, including 41 international students from Laos and Cambodia.
To encourage academic excellence, the university has decided to grant full scholarships worth VND2.3 billion to 38 of these new international students. Additionally, 30 Khmer students from the Mekong Delta region were also awarded full scholarships, totaling VND2.1 billion. These efforts are part of the university's initiative to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of higher education.
During the ceremony, the university also honored and awarded 34 new students for their outstanding achievements in the 2024 university entrance exams. Hundreds of other scholarships were presented to new students with exceptional academic performance, as well as to those facing difficult circumstances, including students from low-income families, orphans, and children of war veterans. The total value of scholarships and awards amounted to nearly VND9.1 billion.
Speaking about development plans for the new academic year, Assc. Prof. Dr. Luong Minh Cu emphasized that the university will continue to innovate teaching methods, improve the quality of its educational programs and invest heavily in facilities. The university will also focus on strengthening scientific research and expanding international cooperation to enhance the quality of education and train human resources for both the region and the world.
On this occasion, Cuu Long University was also awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for its outstanding achievements in "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning," particularly in training human resources and transferring technology to Laos and Cambodia.
Over its 24 years of growth and development, Cuu Long University has trained and graduated nearly 32,000 bachelor's degree holders, engineers, and over 1,200 master's degree holders. Since 2015, the university has been cooperating in training human resources for Laos and Cambodia. Currently, Cuu Long University is one of 20 institutions assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to train, assess and certify Vietnamese language proficiency for foreign learners. To date, the university has welcomed and trained over 700 international students./.
