Vaccines and medical equipment sponsored during RoK and India trips handed over

On December 19, a plane carrying a high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue departed from New Delhi, India, and landed at the Noi Bai International Airport, ending the six-day official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) and India, two important strategic partners of Vietnam in Asia.

With a full diplomatic schedule of 63 consecutive events in the two countries, including many high-level meetings, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the delegation have continued to strengthen and promote the strategic and cooperative Vietnam - RoK partnership, and the friendship, comprehensive strategic and cooperative Vietnam - India partnership.

The visits continued to affirm Vietnam’s open, multilateral, diversified, proactive, active and responsible foreign policy, improving Vietnam's position with the region and the world.

The trips achieved comprehensive results in politics, foreign affairs and diplomacy, serving the economy, vaccine diplomacy, people's diplomacy and overseas Vietnamese work. Ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam signed  9 cooperation agreements with ministries, branches and agencies of the RoK and India; while 39 investment registration certificates and cooperation agreements were awarded during the business trip, valued at USD15 billion.

In addition, one of the highlights of the mission is also the specific results of vaccine diplomacy and cooperation in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through high-level contacts and meetings with businesses, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese NA received COVID-19 vaccine, supplies and ingredients for the preparation of COVID-19 drugs and funding from Korean and Indian businesses.

As soon as the plane landed at Noi Bai International Airport at dawn on December 20, the Office of the NA and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Health and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) held a ceremony to hand over vaccines, supplies, ingredients for drug preparation and funding to Vietnamese agencies and businesses.

At the handover ceremony, Chairman of the NA Foreign Affairs Committee of Vu Hai Ha briefly reported on the results of the visits; while Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Secretary General of the NA, Chairman of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong, on behalf of the delegation, presented vaccines, medical equipment and supplies and cash donated by Korean and Indian businesses.

Accordingly, over 200,000 doses of Covaxin vaccine for children under 18 years old supported by Bharat Biotech Group (India); all technology and a ton of raw materials for the preparation of 4,750,000 Movinavir 200mg tablets to treat COVID-19 by Optimus Pharma (India) and Mekophar Pharmaceutical and Chemical Joint Stock Company (Vietnam), were handed over.

Besides, KRW2 billion from Hana Financial Group (the RoK) was handed over, together with BIDV, to implement social security activities which include 65 ambulances and the building of cultural houses and flood resistant houses./.
