Delegates placed a wreath with the words "Eternal gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh" in front of the Statue of Uncle Ho, which was placed by the city in Montreau Park on May 19, 2005, on the occasion of the 115th birthday anniversary of Uncle.

Speaking at the flower offering ceremony, Montreuil City Mayor Patrice Bessac said that Montreuil is honored to be a city with many special monuments associated with the imprints of countries, including Vietnam. Right after the Second World War, people in Montreuil as well as many peace-loving French people admired President Ho Chi Minh, who led the Vietnamese people to fight against many great powers to regain independence for the country.

Mayor Patrice Bessac emphasized that the French people who love peace and love Vietnam very well remember the affirmation in the Declaration of Independence that the President read on September 2, 1945, which said that Vietnam has the right to enjoy freedom and independence, and in fact became a free and independent country. The entire Vietnamese nation is determined to put all its spirit and strength, life and wealth to uphold that right of freedom and independence.

He also said that the historic mission of the city of Montreuil is to demonstrate the spirit of international solidarity, towards the good. Support and attachment to Vietnam was shown through protests against the war and the fight for Vietnam's independence and peace during the long resistance war until the country's reunification. After the war, the government and people in Montreuil continued to contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in many fields.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan thanked the city's leaders and people for the good feelings for Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that Vietnam and France have a special relationship, linked by history, culture and people. During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh was a man who worked hard to cultivate the friendship between the two peoples.

Over the past time, the relationship between the two countries has developed well in all fields, from politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, investment to culture, education-training, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated the cooperation between Montreuil city and Hai Duong province, especially in waste treatment and environmental protection.

In 2023, Vietnam and France will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership. Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said that this will be an important milestone, opening a new stage of development for the special relationship between the two countries.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Ho Chi Minh Space located in the living history museum, where precious memorabilia about President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in France in the early 20th century are kept, especially the room that recreates his boarding house at 9 lane Compoint in Paris./.
