The two-week training program (from March 18 to 30) is sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Program to provide Vietnamese reporters and editors with knowledge of modern media and journalism. 26 reporters and journalists from Vietnamese press agencies are awarded scholarships to attend the course.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Shashank Goel, General Director of Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute and Secretary to the Government in the State of Telangana, said that the training program is based on the long-term friendly cooperation between the two Governments of Vietnam and India.

According to Dr. Shashank Goel, the press serves as a voice of the people, playing an important part in stabilizing a democratic society. Therefore, journalists should perform their functions well.
He also emphasized that the emergence of social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc) have brought about a profound transformation in the world of media. Thus it is important that the press uphold the principles of accuracy, impartiality and ethical conduct in their pursuit of truth.

Dr. Shashank Goel also affirmed that Vietnam is a country with colorful cultural heritage, a fast-growing economy and strong global integration. In particular, Vietnam and India have many similarities in politics, society and history, so he believes that this course will offer useful knowledge to Vietnamese journalists.
He expressed his hope that this course will contribute to further strengthening the communication capacity of Vietnamese reporters and journalists, while promoting the growing bilateral relationship between Vietnam and India.
Dr. Madhavi Ravulapati, Director of the course, said the course will focus on new types of journalism, modern journalism skills and content production for social media. The training program is guided and taught by many famous Indian media and press experts./.
