Vietnam, Brazil promote relations to new heights

At the invitation of the Communist Party and the Workers' Party of Brazil, a high-level delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission on Popularization and Education, paid a working visit to Brazil from August 26 to 27.

During the visit to Brazil, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia held talks and exchanges with the President of the Communist Party, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Luisiana Santos; President of the Workers' Party, Gleisi Hoffmann; President of the Democratic Labor Party and Minister of Social Welfare, Carlos Lupi; Brazilian Presidential Advisor, Celso Amorim; and President of the Brazil-Vietnam Friendship Association, Ignacio Arruda.

The delegation participated in an international seminar on the topic “President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam-Latin America Relations”; met with leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Services and Tourism; and visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy and several economic and cultural institutions in Brazil.

During the meetings, he emphasized the solidarity, friendship, support and assistance from the people and left-wing, communist and progressive forces in Brazil during Vietnam's struggle for national liberation and unification, as well as in the current efforts to build and protect the country. He particularly highlighted the affection that the Brazilian people have for President Ho Chi Minh, who lived and worked in Brazil during his journey to find a path to national salvation.

He congratulated Brazil on its achievements in economic and social development, Party-building, social welfare and poverty reduction, expressing confidence that Brazil will continue to achieve even greater successes.

He affirmed that Vietnam values the development of friendly and cooperative relations with neighboring countries, major powers and traditional friends, including Latin American countries.

Brazilian leaders congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements in recent times, viewing them as valuable examples and lessons for political Parties in Brazil and Latin America.

Brazilian leaders were pleased with the continuous strengthening and development of Vietnam-Brazil relations, noting the many historical similarities and shared experiences in national construction and development between the two countries. They also recalled President Ho Chi Minh's time living and working in Brazil during the early years of his quest for national salvation.

Brazilian leaders affirmed their commitment to closely cooperate with Vietnam in effectively implementing joint declarations and agreements between the high-level leaders of the two Parties and countries; continuing to support each other at international and regional forums; and addressing the challenges facing both countries in a complex global context./.
