According to the MOFA Minister, the diplomatic sector has made significant contribution to COVID-19 prevention, by consulting the Government about the world tendencies of considering vaccine a decisive sector to push back the pandemic and opening up and recover economic development; carrying out vaccine diplomacy; giving suggestions to bring vaccine lobbying into Party and State foreign activities, especially in talks between Vietnamese leaders and countries as well as international organizations.

Up to now, most of the important partners and traditional friends have supported Vietnam with millions of doses of vaccines and much medical equipment, directly serving the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, especially in the southern provinces and cities.
He also highlighted the role of the Government working group on COVID-19 vaccine diplomacy, which has been set up under a decision signed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Accordingly, the team is tasked with mobilising donated vaccines, treatment drugs, and medical supplies for COVID-19 prevention and control, and technology transfer for vaccine and drug production from bilateral and multilateral partners.
It will also seek, support, and promote negotiations, import and reception of COVID-19 vaccines, treatment drugs and medical supplies, as well as vaccine and drug production technology transfer.
The group will also submit recommendations to the Prime Minister with the aim of accessing these items as much as possible in the fastest and earliest way.
At the same time, the team will actively approach and hold dialogues, and support negotiations with partners and producers of vaccines, drugs and medical supplies, who are capable of transferring their technologies to Vietnam.
“The diplomatic sector, together with agencies, will try its best to make contributions to pushing back COVID-19 and recovering economic development,” said the MOFA Minister./.
