Speaking at the ceremony, Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan stated that Vietnam and Denmark officially established diplomatic relations in 1971, laying the first bricks in the process of building bilateral cooperation. Since then, Denmark has become one of the most important bilateral donors of Vietnam, actively contributing to the successful socio-economic development of Vietnam today.
Throughout half a century of development, the relationship between the two countries has shifted from a traditional development cooperation relationship to an equal and mutually beneficial partnership, and a comprehensive partnership was established in 2013.
Ms Xuan affirmed that the world is facing unprecedented challenges, so the international community needs to strengthen cooperation to overcome challenges and recover development. The potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark is still very large. “On the basis of the existing legal frameworks and those that will be established in the near future, it is promising to open up the future of cooperation between the two countries that is increasingly effective and solid," she said.
Danish Crown Prince Frederik expressed his delight at Vietnam's dramatic change as well as the positive development in many areas of the Vietnam-Denmark cooperation relationship. According to the Crown Prince, Denmark is an important trade and investment partner of Vietnam, and will continue to effectively and reliably accompany Vietnam in the fields of cooperation in environment, agriculture, healthcare and education.
"There are currently 135 Danish businesses operating in Vietnam. A Danish business delegation visited Vietnamese partners to discuss solutions for green development and sustainable development,” he informed. “I hope with these efforts, Vietnam will develop even more in the coming years."
On November 2, he led a Danish business delegation to visit and work with Hai Phong city, while Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth led a business delegation to Ha Nam province to continue discussions with partners on green development, contributing to realizing Vietnam's commitment to reducing emissions to zero by 2050./.
