Vietnam is priority partner: Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister

In talks with Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi affirmed that Vietnam is a priority partner in the region and that promoting close cooperation with Vietnam is an important element of Kazakhstan's foreign policy towards the Asia-Pacific.

On August 18, in Hanoi, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son had talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam from August 17-18.

Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his pleasure to welcome Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries' 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1992-2022), stressing that the visit will be a driving force for boosting the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

He welcomed and highly appreciated the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, as well as representatives of Kazakhstan's State management agencies in finance and investment in order to explore business cooperation opportunities in Vietnam; and requested Kazakhstan to pay attention and support Vietnamese investors operating in the Kazakhstan market.

Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi affirmed that Vietnam is a priority partner in the region and that Kazakhstan considers promoting close cooperation with Vietnam an important element in it's foreign policy with Asia-Pacific.

He agreed with the proposals of Minister Bui Thanh Son that economic and trade cooperation still has a lot of room for development, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism, clean energy and high technology; and welcomed the plan to establish direct flights between Vietnam and Kazakhstan to promote tourism and transport cooperation in the coming time.

In an atmosphere of openness and mutual trust, the two sides had extensive exchanges on the fields of bilateral cooperation and shared international and regional issues of mutual concern. The two sides are pleased to see that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, especially in recent years, cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan has increasingly expanded in all channels of the Party, the National Assembly, the State and people diplomacy.

On that basis, the two sides emphasized continuing to focus on enhancing the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations.

In economic terms, the two sides agreed that it is necessary to make more effective use of opportunities of the Free Trade Agreement signed between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Kazakhstan is a member; soon organize a meeting of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Committee on economic - trade and scientific - technical cooperation; and study the possibility of establishing joint ventures in potential fields such as textiles and garments, food processing, creating favorable conditions for goods to access each other's markets.

The two sides also emphasized the necessity of maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea; agreed to strengthen coordination at regional and international organizations and forums, especially at the United Nations as well as the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), of which Kazakhstan is undertaking the chairmanship for the 2020-2022 term./.
