Vietnam willing to share experience in ensuring security for major events in Cambodia

During the meeting, Minister To Lam highly appreciated Cambodia's achievements in 2022 under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

He emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the two countries Vietnam - Cambodia in general, and between the two ministries in particular, has been increasingly consolidated and developed in all fields, including cooperation in the field of security and defense which has always been valued and promoted by leaders at all levels. Over the past year, the two countries' senior leaders have maintained visits and meetings with each other, especially the official visits to Cambodia by the Prime Minister, the Chairperson of the National Assembly, and the standing member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat of Vietnam, deepening the relationship of "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability".

He expressed his pleasure when the two sides successfully organized a cooperation conference to strengthen security and order on the borderline between the Vietnamese People's Public Security force and the Cambodian National Police force in October 2022. “This demonstrates the determination of the two ministries in strengthening the fight against transnational crime on the borderline in the context of increased crime activities in the post-COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.

He also confirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is ready to support, share experiences and coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs of Cambodia to ensure security and order at major political, cultural and sports events taking place in Cambodia such as Cambodian National Assembly election, SEA Games 32 in 2023, and Cambodian Senate election in 2024. On this occasion, through Mr. Neth Savoeun, Minister To Lam sent greetings and best wishes to Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs of Cambodia.

For his part, General Neth Savoeun committed to promoting cooperation activities in crime prevention and control, ensuring security and order of each country in the future, thereby contributing to strengthening the traditional and close friendship between the two parties, the two States, the two ministries and the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia; as well as coordinating to ensure security and safety for major political events to be held in the two countries in the coming time./.
