Vietnamese locality supports two Lao provinces’ COVID-19 prevention

On May 10, at milestone 113 at the Tay Trang International Border Gate and milestone 144 at the Huoi Puoc Border Gate in Vietnam’s Dien Bien Province, the Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard Command presented medical supplies and food to the Military Command and Public Security of the two Lao provinces of Phong Sa Ly and Luong Pra Bang.

The activity aimed to support the border management and protection forces in Phong Sa Ly and Luong Pra Bang provinces for better conditions for COVID-19 prevention. The total value of medical supplies and food was over VND100 million.
At the presenting ceremony, leaders of the two sides exchanged views about the situation and developments of COVID-19 in each country. They agreed to further strengthen and continue to well carry out the patrol, control and prevention of illegal entry and exit activities; creating favorable conditions for citizens and goods of both sides to enter and exit through the Tay Trang International Border Gate and Vietnam - Pang Hoc Border Gate in accordance with regulations, ensuring the process of pandemic prevention of each country.
Leaders of the Military and Public Security Command of the two provinces of Phong Sa Ly and Luong Pra Bang thanked the Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard Command for their care and timely provision of medical supplies and food.
They also expressed their hope that in the coming time, the border protection forces of the two sides will regularly exchange and provide information on border management and protection, and share experiences in COVID-19 prevention, thereby contributing to building a border of peace, friendship and cooperation for mutual development.
In early April, through the work of patrol and control on the border, the police of Muong Mai District, Phong Sa Ly Province, coordinated with the border post of Tay Trang International Border Gate to arrest 9 people who crossed the border illegally; supporting the border guards of Dien Bien Province in preventing and destroying many major drug-related crimes./.
