Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Politburo member, permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Lao Vice President and Head of the National Steering Committee to celebrate the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between Laos and Vietnam 2022, said that the conference adopted a Resolution on the establishment of the National Steering Committee to celebrate the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between Laos and Vietnam 2022; Resolution on the establishment of a Secretariat to assist the National Steering Committee; Directive on guiding the National Steering Committee to celebrate the Lao-Vietnamese Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022; and Plan to celebrate the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between Laos and Vietnam 2022.
Mr. Bounthong Chitmany emphasized that 2022 is of special significance for Laos and Vietnam. The two sides will jointly celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022).
In which, Laos identified 8 major events including organizing the opening and closing ceremony of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022; exchanging delegations at all levels; sending congratulatory messages between senior leaders at all levels; organizing literary, cultural, artistic, educational and sports exchanges; promoting economic, trade-investment cooperation; intensifying activities in the field of communication and promotion such as printing magazines, articles and newspapers, interviews on radio, television and other media; and organizing commendation work by awarding medals and orders of all kinds.
According to Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, the commemoration of the two historic days is of great significance to the two Parties, the two States, as well as the two peoples, with great solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam from the stage of national liberation struggle to the present stage of national construction and development.
This is one of the great ideological and political activities for officials, employees, soldiers, police and all people, especially the young generations, to properly and deeply know and understand Laos-Vietnam relations; requesting branches and localities to organize activities for diversity, with many movements in a vibrant, lively and symbolic atmosphere, while ensuring safety and savings./.
