Beauty in Ly Son Island
Thursday, 20/09/2012 10:24 (GMT+7)
With an area of only 10 square kilometres, located 30 kilometres off the mainland coast, Quang Ngai province’s Ly Son Island has a beauty which moves people’s hearts.
Ly Son was separated from Binh Son district in 1992. It includes Lon (large) and Be (small) Islands. The district is divided into An Vinh, An Hai and An Binh communes. |
Despite its small area, the island has a population of over 20,000 residents. |
Residents live mainly on fishing, and growing onions and garlic. |
Quang Ngai province opened a tourism route to Ly Son Island in 2007. Tourists are brought to the island by high speed boat, and travel around the island by motorbike. |
Ly Son is known as a place with much evidence on Vietnam’s sovereignty. Tangible and intangible evidence kept in Ly Son Island over the past centuries proves that the Spratly and Paracel Islands are wholly territorial parts that cannot be separated from the nation. |
