Ke Ga Island in Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan province, is known not only because it has the tallest and oldest lighthouse in Southeast Asia, but it also has hundreds of great golden granite blocks scattered around the island.

Construction of the Ke Ga Lighthouse was started in February 1897 and was completed by the end of 1898, and the lighthouse was put in operation in 1900. The entire structure was built with granite, to its height of 35 meters. On the lighthouse, there is a 2000W light, which can be seen for 22 nautical miles and is used to signals ships. At the foot of the tower is a concrete path running straight down the hill, the two sides grown up with Plumeria rubra flowers planted by French people when they built Ke Ga. Over the past 112 years, Ke Ga lighthouse has remained intact against all the effects of rain, sun, storm and sea spray.

Ke Ga Island has hundreds of households. Their main occupation is catching seafood, from which the local people lead comfortable lives.

Ke Ga Island and lighthouse have become an attractive tourism destination for visitors to Binh Thuan province.
