On October 10, the naval ship Wang Goen of the Republic of Korea (RoK) led by captain – colonel Kim Ju Yeong with 306 officers and sailors on board, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, beginning a four-day friendship visit to the city.
The visit was one of the activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations.
The ship and delegation were welcomed by representatives from Vietnam's Naval High Command, the Ho Chi Minh City foreign office, the foreign affairs department of the Ministry of National Defence, the High Command of Military Zone 7, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command, the RoK general consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and many Koreans living and working in the city.
During the visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Korean officers and sailors will lay a wreath at the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh and pay courtesy visits to leaders of the municipal People's Committee, the High Command of Military Zone 7 and representatives from the southern Naval High Command, and visit some landscapes of the city.
The Korean sailor delegation will also visit and give presents to children in SOS village and play a friendship volleyball match with students from the navy technical school.
