Son La hydro-electric plant before inauguration day

Since 2 December 2005 when former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai officially opened construction of Son La hydro-electric plant, the largest one in Southeast Asia, after seven years, the plant is expected to be inaugurated and be fully operational, contributing power to the national grid, on December 21.
It is the result of the work of tens of thousands of cadres, experts, engineers and workers.
At times there have been over 10,000 workers at the site, over 16.6 million cubic metres of earth was moved, over 20 million cubic metres of land and stones transported, nearly 6 million cubic metres of concrete poured and 115,000 tons of equipment installed.
