Nha Xa silk village makes its name

(CPV) – Situated on land known for mulberry planting and silkworm raising along the Red River, Nha Xa silk village, Moc Nam commune, Duy Tien district of the northern province of Ha Nam, has the peaceful characteristics of many northern villages; however, its difference – silk weaving – has earned a name for this land.

Although modern machines are used, in many steps, manual weaving is applied, requiring highly skilled workers. |

Each weaver can operate 4-6 weaving machines during a working shift. |

Dyeing is done manually. The suitable temperature and length of time determine the quality and colour. |

Creating patterns or colour mixture is also a skill being maintained by artisans to ensure the quality of the silk. |

Silk making provides jobs and incomes for hundreds of families, contributing to keep a traditional beauty of the land. |
