(CPV) – Leading Australian guitarist Slava Grigoryan met with students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu School for visually-impaired children on October 23 on the occasion of his invitation to act as judge at the first Hanoi Open Classical Guitar Competition.
This is the first time the famous Australian guitarist has visited Vietnam. Having studied guitar since he was 7 years old, he has now won major prizes at international classical guitar competitions and has played with some of the world's leading orchestras and legendary jazz guitarists.
At the event, he played some famous works to encourage these students to feel music and use music to express themselves. Students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu School also performed to introduce Vietnamese culture to him.
Slava shared his feeling: “Music is the global language; it not only provides a link between different cultures, but also a bridge to connect normal people and disabled ones. Visually-impaired students can still become excellent musicians and I come here to encourage children to study music.”
