Honourble doctorate awarded to EC President

On November 1, the Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi awarded the honorable doctorate to President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy who is on a visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Truong Tan Sang.

The awarding once again confirmed the prestige as well as the large contribution of the EC President to the development between Vietnam and European countries and the European community’s help and cooperation with VNU in the scientific, technological, educational and training sectors.

 The EC President was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, VNU Director, Vietnamese officials and a large number of VNU students.

 

 Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan awarded the doctorate to EC President Herman Van Rompuy.

 
 

 Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan delivered a speech, affirming that the relationship between the two sides would be increased.

 

 EC President Herman Van Rompuy expressed that it was his pleasure to
receive the honorable doctorate.

 EC President Herman Van Rompuy had talks with students, saying that excellent students were representatives of Vietnam's young generation, being the hope for the country’s fine future.

 

 The honourable doctorate is a precious title of the VNU for the world’s leading scientists, eminent politicians, outstanding activists and those who have made special contributions to the development of the university.
