Over 3,000 people donate blood

Some 3,000 people participated on December 2nd in a humanitarian blood donation drive at Hoa Binh (Peace) Park, Hanoi to mark International Volunteer Day (December 5th).
According to the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, as of late afternoon that day, it had collected over 2,000 units of blood.
This was the fourth year this event was organized. In the past three times, over 5,000 people registered to donate blood, providing 4,452 units of blood.

Students from a large number of universities and colleges in Hanoi came to join the event in the early morning. |

Adults of different ages and working in different industries also participated in the blood donation. This young man, 23 from the central province of Thanh Hoa, a driver, said that he was afraid of the needle as he never had an injection before. |

Since 2004, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phan, 37, an official, has donated blood twice each year. So far he has donated blood 15 times, therefore, he felt very confident. |

200 people registering to donate blood in the “golden hour” will receive a 'blood group' card which they can use in case of emergency. |
