On December 9, the National Civil Aviation Committee in collaboration with the Ministries of Defence, Public Security, Transport, and People’s Committee of Lam Dong province, held a national anti-terrorism drill at Lien Khuong Air Terminal.
More than 1,000 police, army, aviation industry, fire brigade and healthcare personnel were involved in the operation.
The simulation will help mitigate the loss of life and damages to property in the event any such incident occurred, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai told those participating in the drill.
The drill is aimed to enhance the security awareness and vigilance of forces in charge of protecting airports, strengthening the coordination between different anti-terrorism forces, and improving plans for fighting terrorists and hijackers, and for conducting search and rescue.
During the drill, participants acted out situations including public disturbances and riots, arresting terrorists, rescuing hostages from the terminal, detecting bombs and clearing toxic chemicals.
