Over 5,000 people join walk for Traffic Safety Year 2013

On January 6, to open the Traffic Safety Year 2013, under the theme “Raising the sense of responsibility among on-duty officers and awareness among road users”, over 5,000 Hanoian pupils and students walked at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi.

This is one of the activities of the “Youth with Traffic Culture Festival” launched by the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and Hanoi Municipal Youth Union.

The Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh joined the over 5,000 Youth Union members and Hanoi students walking in the festival.

Minister Thang stressed that traffic accidents have not only claimed the lives of many people, but have affected socio-economic development and caused serious consequences to the society and families. He added the Youth Union should get involved further in the effort to improve the situation.

At the festival, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee presented certificates of merit for 30 exemplary units.

Under the framework of the Youth with Traffic Culture Festival, many activities have been held such as traffic culture under the young person’s view; “Ringing Gold Bell” competition with the participation of 100 students from high schools in Hanoi; and motor driving competitions...
