Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival among H'mong ethnic minority children is a season of colourful clothes and new shoes to show to friends.
H’mong people have their own calendar, according to researchers, similar to the calendar of the Di ethnic group (China). Based on their calendar, the Lunar New Year holiday is celebrated in late November, earlier than on the official Vietnamese lunar calendar.
H'mong ethnic minority residents of Hang Kia Village, Pa Co commune, nestled in northern Hoa Binh province’s Mai Chau Valley, celebrate the Tet Festival starting on the first day of the 12th lunar month.
Despite the extremely cold weather, thick fog and drizzle, local children, dressed in colourful clothes, step out of their houses and enjoy the atmosphere of spring that is spreading through every corner of the village./.
